A voyage back in time looking at roots of the Hotel la Stua leads directly to the glorious days of Venice, the ancient Maritime Republic. You find it kind of strange? A bit, yes, but easy to explain.
A large part of Venice too “stands” on firs of the Fiemme Valley and over centuries today’s Hotel la Stua beared the name restaurant/tavern VENEZIA.
Why? The wood buyers sent here by the Doges spent their nights and signed the contracts here, in the restaurant VENEZIA.
Not far apart from it there still is the palace of the MAGNIFICA COMUNITA’ GENERALE DI FIEMME the magnificent general community of the Fiemme Valley, which was the place of administration of the community for the trees in the valley. This was the place where contracts were negotiated, seals were impressed and the cutting of trees was planned and organised.
During the last ten years the hotel was in constant change in order to bring back the flair of the time passed by. It’s splendour is now given by furniture of rare beauty, five hundred years old parlours, centurial rocks, antique pictures and precious sculptures, open cheminees (stone fireplaces) and ceramic stoves, a house whose history has been written through itself.
These atmospheres are now for you. This ancient flair slightly touched by modernity expects you with fitness rooms, Hay Baths, a thermarium, a sauna, a Turkish bath and also an elevator, a fridge in the rooms, Sat TV and a large, guarded parking.
Last but not least the restaurant, which came last as the rounding off. The four hundred years old boiserie panels (magnificent painted and gilded panelled walls often framing painting and mirrors) adorning ceilings and walls were dedicated to Princess Sissi, the Habsburg oven from the old Bohemia… and a choice of different dishes that give rise to the waltzes and mazurkas even if the pianist misses and finally the selection of wines that reflects the varied regional wine list.
The Hotel la Stua lies in the very centre of Cavalese at the corner with the Piazza dei Francescani, right at the beginning of the village.
Despite it’s centrality, the hotel is quiet and peaceful, a calm corner with a well equipped garden where you can enjoy the view on the tower of San Sebastiano and the Lagorai Group while being enlighted by candles made of pure wax. Enjoy delicate meat and venison until late… with superfine local Grappas. Home sweet home is often told in hotels, but not here, not the guests of the Vanzo family.
