Pieve di Cadore is a graceful village that always represents the historical and cultural center of the Cadore, the splendid valley characterized by picturesques lakes and framed by the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites, like the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
The locality is stretched between the Cime di Laste and the Monte Antelao, and it represents the door of access to the valleys of Piave and Boite.

Pieve di Cadore is famous above all because here was born in 1490 the famous painter Tiziano. All the village expands around Tiziano public square, where are set a bronze statue representing the artist and the fifteenth century Palace of the Magnifica Comunitā di Cadore, with its embattled tower.
Not distant from the public square there is the Tiziano house born, a build of the XV century, that today accommodates the museum dedicated to the painter. All the historical center is rich of elegant palaces which testify the wealth and the prestige of the village during the Middle Ages.
A visit in the church of Santa Maria Nascente, founded in the XI century, where tourists can admire some important works of Tiziano, is suggested.
The rich artistic heritage of Pieve di Cadore is completed by the excavations, still in existence, that they have brought back to the light the rests of a roman house, particularly interesting for the rich mosaics that cover the floor.

Many hikers chose Pieve di Cadore during the summery period for the variety and the beauty of its paths and in winter it is an optimal destination to reach the near Dolomite ski tracks. In the neighbourhood there is the lake of Misurina, the largest of Cadore, where tourists can relax merged in an evocative mounts scenery.
