Fiesole is located in a splendid panoramic setting, nestled on a hill top overlooking Florence and the Arno valley.
The small town of
Fiesole dates back to ancient times as we can see from the vast archeological area with Etruscan ruins of a temple and the walls, the Roman amphitheater and baths and the exibition at its Museo Civico.
Places of interest are the Gothic Cathedral of San Romolo and the Basilica di Sant'Alessandro, the most ancient one in town.
A visit to the Museo Bandini with its collection of Italian artist paintings and the Museo Primo Conti with oils and drawings made by Florentine artists, are both suggested.
