Hotels Gioia Tauro

Gioia Tauro is located in an ancient territory, right where Metauros rose, the Locri colony that has had a worrying history suffering the various Arabic and Turkish incursions, by the exploitation of the feudal land and the repeated devastations, beyond that the earthquake of 1783.
Of great cultural and archaeological importance are also the necropoli rests of the Greek period.
The city of Gioia Tauro is nowadays one of the most important center in Calabria, set in the homonymous plain, it has become a tourist summer resort boasting the beauty of its sandy beaches and offering a mild climate, also valued by the reclamation of the land and the Petrace river mouth.
Gioia Tauro is at the same time one of the greatest harbour river basins of the Mediterranean that was constructed in function of the never realized iron and steel center.
Not to loose is a visit at the city Fair that it takes place every year from the 13 to 15 of August, the Cathedral square and findings of the ancient Locri colony that are conserved today in the National Museum of Reggio Calabria.
