Hotel Procida.

Procida is an island of volcanic origin set to the entrance of the Gulf of Naples, between Ischia and Capo Miseno. With its 4 Km of surface, it is the smallest of the Campania archipelago. In the west side there is Vivara, a small, uninhabited island, completely covered of Mediterranean wood. The landscape is characterized by a variety of colors, that go from the green of citrus groves and vineyard to the intense blue of the sea.

Unlike the neighbors Ischia and Capri, always crowded and chaotic, Procida has maintained a sure confidentiality, ideal for who loves peace and simplicity. The main town, Marina Grande, where you arrive by ferry, is a colorful conglomeration of pastel-painted houses rising from the seafront to a network of steep streets winding up to the medieval village, called Torre Murata. Here we can visit the abbey church of Saint Michele Arcangelo, whose domes are decorated with a stirring painting by Giordano, but above all have an unique view of the gulf of Naples.
To the feet of the ancient village there is the castle builted in the XVI century by the Avalos family, that for two hundred years governed this places.

The island boasts irregular coasts, sometime low and sandy other times rocky and rugged. There are beaches in Marina Grande, just beyond the fishing harbour, and in Chiaiolella, where there is a wide shoreline with bar and restaurants. By taking the road beyond the beach you can cross the bridge that go to the islet of Vivara, a nature reserve, that conserve some testimonies of inhabitants of the bronze age. Procida still keep old local traditions like the Processione dei Misteri, than carries out the Saint Friday, and the summery Festival of the Sea.
