Cattolica is a charming summer resort of Emilia Romagna region. The city lies on the coast of fine, golden sand and is surrounded by rolling hills. This area has always had a great tradition in seaside tourism. Recently Cattolica has been restructured and simple cabins that have marked the city for years have given way to modern lidos, equipped to satisfy all needs. Cattolica was founded by the Romans in the second century b.C. along the route of the Via Flaminia, which linked Rome to Rimini. Since the Middle Ages the village boasted several inns that reflect an ancient tradition of hospitality still present in people of this region. The most interesting monuments are the church of Pio V, patron of the city, and the Tower Malatestiana, built by the Byzantines on a hill from which you can enjoy a magnificent view. The old town still has the look of the ancient fishing village.

Not far from the center lies the Aquarium, including inside the park Le Navi, which houses fish coming from all over the world. For those seeking entertainment there is the amusement park of Fiabilandia, ideal for families with children. Cattolica often houses large and small events held in the summer period for its tourists. In summer nights in May 1st square you can watch the spectacle of dancing fountains. For young people the city offers many fashion clubs and discos very popular during all the year.
