Hotel Albissola.

Albissola is a small town in the western Ligurian Coast, located a few kilometres from Savona. The city lies in a fertile plain crossed by the river Sansobbia. Along the coast stretches the ancient fishing village that now has become a popular seaside resort, equipped with modern lidos and hotels. In the hinterland, characterized by gentle hills, lies instead the hamlet of Albissola Superiore, of medieval origin, famous for the production of ceramics from the sixteenth century.

This area was inhabited since prehistoric times but the first town dates back to Roman age, when it was founded Alba Docilia. During the Middle Ages the numerous incursions by Saracen pirates forced the inhabitants to move on the hill Castellaro, giving rise to Albissola Superiore. From this moment began production of ceramics that resist even nowaday, as witnessed by the numerous laboratories scattered in the village. In the town center there is the Museum Manlio Trucco, which collects interesting works of art of local artists.

The fraction of Albissola Marina is crossed by the "lungomare of Artists", a beautiful promenade alongside the beach of about one kilometer. The way is characterized by a mosaic floor, with large colorful panels, made by contemporary artists in 1963. To the north of the town there is the beautiful villa Faraggiana, dating back from the eighteenth century, surrounded by a large park. This luxury residence was built by the Genoese nobleman Gerolamo Durazzo and inside houses a valuable art gallery.
