Hotel Taggia.

Taggia is a charming locality in Liguria region, located a few kilometres from the border with France. The town is set in a narrow plain originated by the Argentina river and it's surrounded by gentle hills covered with olive trees. The village is divided into two parts. The ancient medieval center lies in the hinterland while the fraction Arma di Taggia is a renowned seaside resort, with a long beach. Thanks to the microclimate this area enjoys an almost constant temperature throughout the year, with values always spring.

The name of the city derives from the Roman colony of Tabia, which stood near the coast. The village was destroyed by a landslide in the 690 BC and the survivors founded Taggia. The new town was moved to an area more internal and was fortified by walls to defend themselves from frequent attacks by pirates. From the twelfth century, the city came under the control of the Republic of Genoa, under which it remained until the unification of Italy. The old town still has the typical appearance of medieval villages, with towers and defensive walls.

The heart of Taggia is via Soleri, the ancient medieval road that crosses the entire old town. Here overlook some of the oldest buildings in the village, such as the sixteenth-century Palazzo Asdente. Continuing on the way you reache the medieval bridge, a magnificent structure in 16 arches that crosses the stream Argentina. To the south of the town lies, instead, the Convent of San Domenico, built in the fifteenth century, which preserves precious works of art. Taggia is also a seaside resort, famous for its sea particularly clear. On the seafront there are many hotels and typical restaurants.
