Hotel Bordighera.

Bordighera is a famous health resort of western Liguria region. This lovely seaside village is set on a hill overlooking the sea, about twenty kilometers from the border with France. Thanks to the protection of the Alps Maritimes this area has a very particular climate, with mild winters and cool summers. The main economic resource of the town is tourism. Bordighera is internationally known for relaxing holidays in a favourable climate, surrounded by a luxuriant vegetation and in hotels of high quality.

The city was founded in 1471 by some citizens of neighbouring villages on the Sant'Ampelio cape. In fact, this area was inhabited already in Roman times, as evidenced by the findings of some tombs dating back to the first century AD. The old town has retained the original structure, characterized by a dense net of streets and squares, and is still surrounded by medieval walls. The modern part of Bordighera has developed starting from 1800, when the British and French aristocrats chose this area as a place for holiday. The city retains some signs of that period.

One example is Palazzo Bicknell which houses a museum dedicated to this famous English architect. On the Via Romana, a long tree-lined avenue in the city centre, face various villas and hotels in Art Nouveau style. The heart of Bordighera is the Lungomare Argentina, a magnificent promenade of about two kilometers that skirts the beach. On both sides of the way there are gardens and flower beds and here lie prestigious lidos and many fashion clubs. The town also offers interesting places of artistic interest. The most important is the church of the Magdalene, built in the seventeenth century, that it preserves precious works of art and a magnificent chandelier donated by Queen Margherita of Savoy.
