Chiavari is a lovely town on the east Riviera of Liguria region. It overlooks the Ligurian Sea in the centre of the Tigullio Gulf, in a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty. In addition to being an important industrial centre with flourishing craft, Chiavari is a very popular tourist destination especially during the summer season. In fact, the city boasts a beautiful beach equipped with modern lidos and a picturesque hinterland with rolling hills covered with olive trees and dense vegetation.

The city has very ancient origins and in the course of history has always had a certain importance, thanks to its geographic location and flourishing business. Chiavari had since the twelfth century a strong link with the nearby Genoa. The city still maintains the urban structure, wanted by consuls from Genoa in the Middle Ages, characterized by streets with long arcades. The old town is full of luxury buildings constructed between the seventeenth and eighteenth century, during the peak of commerce and culture.

In the heart of Chiavari lies the Rocca Palace, built in 1629 for the will of the rich Grimaldi family. The structure houses the Museum of Archaeology and is completely surrounded by a beautiful park. The city also boasts various religious buildings, such as the Church of St. John the Baptist and the Cathedral in neoclassical style that keeps many paintings of '600. The entire old town is a pedestrian zone filled with elegant shops, ideal for walking and shopping. On the seafront, flanked by palms and orange trees, instead there are restaurants and fashion clubs. The town also has a well equipped tourist port.
