Finale Ligure is a quiet town on the west Riviera of Liguria region, a few kilometres from Savona. The city is set between the Caprazoppa promontory and the Cape of Noli, in a territory varied and still unspoiled. The town combines three ancient villages that from the begining of XIX century form a single centre. Pia is located on the sea and its houses have retained the medieval structure. Borgo, located more inland, still keeps the walls of fifteenth century and many palaces. Finally, Marina is a modern seaside resort, with wide sandy beaches and a beautiful promenade.

The origin of the name Finale derives from Latin "finalis", "on the Border", because this place marked the boundary between two local populations. The first written document citing Finale Ligure goes back to the XI century, when the Del Carretto family founded a powerful marquisate. This small area was able to maintain its independence for several centuries, becoming an active commercial port. Only in 1713 the Marquise was annexed to the Republic of Genoa, under which it remained until the unification of Italy.

Nowaday Finale Ligure is a popular tourist destination, offering relaxation, fun and interesting historical and cultural suggestions. The city boasts a beautiful sandy coastline, characterized by small hills covered with vegetation very special. On the seafront, lined by palm trees, there are hotels, restaurants and discotheques, for all needs. As an alternative to sea you can visit the hamlet of Final Borgo, the ancient capital of marquisate. In addition to the defensive walls and graceful Renaissance churches and palaces, deserves a sight of the picturesque Gavone Castle, residence of the family Del Carretto.
