Loano is a renowned seaside resort of the Riviera di Ponente, in the Liguria region. The village overlooks the Ligurian Sea at the mouth of the river Nimbalto and is surrounded by an imposing mountain chain. Due to its geographical position, this area enjoys a mild climate throughout the year. The village is spread along the coast, which in this part is characterized by a beautiful sandy beach. The main economic resource of Loano is seaside tourism, also thanks to its well-equipped port.

The village was founded in Roman times, although this area was inhabited during prehistory. This stretch of coastline was particularly beloved by roman nobles, who built magnificent villas. From the thirteenth century Loano passed under the control of the Doria family, which later also ruled Genoa. The Doria family stayed a long time in this town and enriched it with palaces and monuments, still clearly visible. The old seaside village still keeps houses of the sixteenth century that overlook narrow alleys and charming squares.

The main historical monument is Palazzo Comunale, built by Doria in the sixteenth century. Inside it houses the Civic museum and a floor with a mosaic of Roman age. Very interesting is the Medieval Castle, which is surrounded by a beautiful natural park. But the real attractions of Loano are the sea, virtually untouched, and the long beach, equipped with modern lidos. The climate always optimal and the hospitality of the inhabitants ensure an holiday of relax and fun.
