La Maddalena is the biggest island in the archipelago with the same name, located a few kilometres from the north-eastern coast of Sardinia. The archipelago is made up of seven islands, of which only two inhabited. The landscape is characterized by a natur still incontaminated and it is protected by the natural park of Bocche di Bonifacio. For this reason, the archipelago is the ideal place for boat trips to the discovery of its extraordinary beauty. This area is very popular among sailors, divers and people who love peace and the contact with nature.

The island of La Maddalena has a characteristic triangular shape and it consists predominantly granitic rocks. The only town is set on the southern coast, in the picturesque bay of Cala Gavetta. The village was founded in 1770, but it acquired a certain importance only to the late 800's, when it was chosen by the Kingdom of Italy as a naval base. On the beautiful waterfront are still visible several buildings dating back to that period of history. In the nearby church of Santa Maria are preserved some precious items donated to the city by Admiral Nelson, who stops on the island for a few days.

The heart of the village is the lively Piazza Garibaldi, where face cafes and restaurants very exclusive. From here begin the road pan, about 20 km long, which allows you to make a complete view of the island and to admire all its beauty. In the first section is worth visiting the archaeological naval museum, which houses among others the remains of a Roman ship. La Maddalena boasts a large number of small beaches washed by a crystalline sea. The best known is the beach of Budelli, characterized by sand colored rose.
