Hotel Stintino.

Stintino is a beautiful seaside resort in the province of Sassari, on the northwest coast of Sardinia. The villagge is set at the edge of a promontory that reaches out to the Isle of Asinara, which is a few hundred metres from the coast. Thanks to the extraordinary natural beauty of this area, Stintino is a renowned tourist destination, with exclusive hotels and holiday resorts. The locality also boasts two well-equipped ports, one for fishing boats and one for private yachts of tourists.

The origin of the villagge dates back to 1885, when it was decided to transfer the 400 inhabitants of the Asinara island, which was transformed into penal colony. For many years Stintino was a simple fishing village, famous for its tuna. Every summer at the port is organised an exhibition on traditions related to tuna fishing. In Tonnara Museum are exhibited several documents, objects and photos that illustrate the typical life of fishermen of the area. Despite the great development linked to tourism, the villagge still retains its original appearance, with perpendicular streets and pastel-colored houses.

The most famous beach of Stintino is La Pelosa, characterized by white sand and crystal blue sea. Opposite the coast there are two small islands, reacheable on swimming, with two Spanish towers dating back to the sixteenth century. Very famous is the beautiful beach of Saline, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Asinara. For those who love nature there's the pond of Casaraccio, a vast area covered by Mediterranean scrub and inhabited by a rich marine fauna. Also worth visiting the island of Asinara, characterized by a nature still unspoiled and breathtaking landscapes. The island, closed to the public until a few years ago, is now open for escorted tours.
