The territory of Lombardy is divided nearly fairly between mountains, the Lepontine and Retiche Alps, and the Po plain, crossed by many rivers that meet nearly all in the Po.
Even if tourism does not represent the main activity of the region, Lombardy has a splendid landscape and many interesting art cities for tourists. So it is for Milan, trade and financial center not only for Lombardy but all Italy, thanks to the Sforza noble family which ruled it for a long period and enriched the city with prestigious art works and monuments.
