Our Locanda Il Castagno Hotel is a small mountain Inn set in the heart of the green Garfagnana region between the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the Alpi Apuane.
It is the ideal geographical location for those who love nature and quietness and want to spend a different holiday in Tuscany. Locanda Il Castagno features 10 confortable rooms all with ensuite bathroom and telvision granting a friendly hospitality all the year long, combined with the best typical local dishes.
To suit long terms or families stays, we also run 2 more vacation apartments both well furnished and modernly equipped.
The Restaurant attached to the hotel is directly managed by our family and it offers the best tasteful genuine Garfagnana and Tuscany cooking with many typical dishes, such as pore mushroom soup, Garfagnana "farro" soup, game and poultry, local lamb and fresh fruit home made pies, just to mention some.
Furthermore in our hotel you can taste and purchase the best typical local products.

* From Parma and La Spezia on motorway A15 exit gate in Aulla and then drive along the state road nr. 445 direction Passo dei Carpinelli and down hill up to Varliano where you will find the road sign to Ponteccio (distance from Aulla 45 km -about 50 min. drive).
* From Cinque Terre or Versilia coastline take the same indication as from La Spezia.
